Associate of Science in Nursing Program (ASN)

St. Joseph School of Nursing offers an Associate of Science in Nursing degree making graduates eligible to take the RN licensing examination in New Hampshire or other states. The program of education includes organized instruction in the scientific, cultural, spiritual and social aspects of nursing with correlated learning experiences. The curriculum extends over a 2-year period of five semesters and consists of 72 credit hours with 54 theory credits, 5 laboratory credits, and 13 clinical credits.

Program start dates each year:

January:  Consists of 20 consecutive months with short breaks at the end of each semester.  Weekdays between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. Clinical days have varied start times and may occasionally include evening or weekend rotations. 

May: Consists of 23 consecutive months with short breaks at the end of each semester and a summer break.  Weekdays between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. Clinical days have varied start times and may occasionally include evening or weekend rotations.

September: Consists of 20 consecutive months with short breaks at the end of each semester. Weekday evenings between the hours of 3:00 pm and 11:00 pm. Clinical days may start as early as 3:00 pm and may occasionally include weekend rotations. 

Educational and Health Standard Requirements:

Applicants must meet the educational and health standards set by the School and the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). Applicants desiring admission must meet the following criteria:

  • Good physical and mental health with acceptable levels of:
  • Manual dexterity and motor coordination
  • Visual acuity with color vision (acceptable if corrected)
  • Hearing capacity (acceptable if corrected)
  • Speech patterns to effectively communicate verbally
  • Ability to comprehend through all modes of communication
  • Ability to cope with personal stresses

Applicants who are accepted must also pass a criminal background check and drug test.

St. Joseph School of Nursing, Associate of Science in Nursing program meets the state education requirements for a registered nursing license in the states of New Hampshire and Massachusetts.  St. Joseph School of Nursing has not determined if the Associate of Science in Nursing program meets the state education requirements in any other state or any U. S. Territory.  Contact the state regulatory agency for nursing in any other state for which this information is needed.
